The road not taken
Markus is a controversial figure: once a hero of no little renown, he built his reputation by defeating the Svodun in the Battle for the Claw against insurmountable odds. While no brilliant tactician, he was rapidly promoted from squadmaster to Tribune for his valor on the field of duty. He was greatly respected by all of his men, who always appreciated his pragmatic outlook and his lack of respect for rank or authority.
Markus’ unconventional methods resulted in him loosing favor almost as fast as he had earned it. However, he would probably retire into obscurity, had he not been accused of conspiring against the crown two years ago. He was thrown in the dungeons of Andelia, where he was to stay until his execution by the loyalists. The party prevented the execution from taking place, and now Markus has joined forces with the rebels, acting as their unofficial leader.
Bitter, cynical, foul-mouthed and direct, the old veteran was never someone nobles would want to have in their court. The two years have only served to make him more gruff and misanthropic, yet you know that he possesses a strange kind of honor and single-minded devotion to his cause.
